20 Anderson Point Drive, Raleigh, NC

My posts are disproportional to North Raleigh parks, simply because it’s where I live. But I do venture out to other areas, this time to Anderson Point in South East Raleigh. It is a cute little park with A LOT of sand play area (which may deter some), a wood chip surface and rubberized paths along the park. They have bucket swings for small tots and belt swings for older ones (which, once again may deter some).

My kids loved the rubberized circles in the sand play area, using them as lilly pads and playing frogs. A couple of diggers are available to use as well.

None of the playground equipment is super high, so it is easily managed by older toddlers/preschool age.

Minimal shade making this a playground better suited for colder months.

A couple of cons:

  1. The walk from the parking lot to the playground is fairly long. You may want to consider a stroller. The walk is along the greenway and very stroller friendly
  2. The restrooms are across a small field from the playground. It’s not too far but if you are in the middle of potty training or otherwise need really quick bathroom access, this park may be problematic
  3. We went in early October and there were a TON of ants. Not on the actual playground surface, but all around. TONS. I have a fire ant bite as a souvenier. So maybe another reason to use this as a colder months playground.
