Baileywick Road Park is my favorite spot for big gatherings like playdates or Birthday parties. It seems to also be everyone else’s favorite because the shelter is always reserved so it’s hard to book for parties! We’ve been to so many events here, including fall festivals, birthday parties, family field days, corporate picnics, and just big gatherings!
Why is this place so popular? The playground is right next to the shelter and bathroom facility so it’s convenient for everyone. There’s also a large grassy open field next to it as well, which is perfect for tossing a Frisbee or playing games with a group. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s centrally located in North Raleigh right off 540, so whether you’re coming from Brier Creek or Knightdale it’s only about 20 minutes away!
The Playground
The playground is separated into a smaller playground and a larger playground, both with a mulch surface. There is a large sandbox in the middle and swings on the outskirts. The sandbox has a few digger tools for the kids to use and you’ll always see a group of toddlers playing there!
The smaller playground is perfect for young climbers. My one year olds were able to get up the stairs easily.
The larger playground has a few drop offs and gaps so I’d say it’s better for 3 and up. The kids like hopping on the platforms and using the monkey bars.
Walking Path and second picnic shelter
Around the park you will find a short walking trail. The .6-mile Baileywick Greenway Trail connects from Strickland Rd to Baileywick Rd by passing through Baileywick Park. It will also lead you by the second, much smaller picnic shelter and field.
As you’re walking, keep an eye out for this little fort area in the woods where someone built a great hut for the kids to play in!
If you love Baileywick Road Park due to the close proximity layout of the shelter, bathrooms, and playground, also try Honeycutt Park or Williams Park!
