While we were in Wilson visiting Imagination Station Science and History Museum, we also found the awesome BB&T Noah’s Arc playground to burn off some energy outdoors! I loved the hand-built Noah’s Ark, and the fact that the playground was fully accessible for all abilities!
Noah’s Arc Playground
Similar to the Kids Together Playground and All Children’s Playground in Raleigh, the BB&T Noah’s Arc Playground is fully wheelchair accessible and makes it easy for kids of all ages and abilities to play together. There were some features like the climbing wall and hopping stones that would not be accessible, but the ramps were wide and low to the ground for easy maneuverability. This also makes it easy for an adult to follow their kids and play with them, as my husband was happy to do! 😉
Athletic Complex
This All Children’s playground is actually located within the J. Burt Gillette Athletic Complex, where you’ll find just about every sport field you can possibly imagine! There’s everything from bocce ball courts to soccer fields and disc golf.
The playground also has some extra features nearby, like a large sandbox and water table, lots of fun bouncers and vehicles to play on, and a giant climbing boulder. There’s also a Little Free Library so you can donate old books and pick up some new ones!
Around the complex you’ll find art dedicated to children in the community, some who were lost too soon. It was a bit hard for me to read all of the names, but also warmed my heart to see this tangible memory of these precious little lives. I’m sure it meant a lot to the families as well. Just a heads up if this may be a trigger for you.
Honestly, this park had a lot of fun features packed in one place, so I recommend checking it out if you’re in the area! You’ll also want to swing by the unique Whirligig Park as well to see some creative moving art!
