5600 Sweetbriar Dr, Raleigh, NC

The last time I was at Forest Ridge Park I overheard another park goer talking about the temporary disc golf course there from October through March. I, of course, had to tell him that if he’s looking for disc golf he should go to none other than Cedar Hills Park in North Raleigh! The park is known for it’s awesome wooded 18 hole course!

Playground

Although Cedar Hills Park is known for the disc golf, that’s not all that’s there! Once it’s reopened, we love the shaded playground on hot days. The surface is mulch, but they also have a large sandbox with diggers built in.

The playground is the older style metal structure like you see at Williams Park. There are two separate structures for older and younger kids, and the giant fish is always a hit.

And I’ll be honest, I love the fish too! It has a weird staircase inside that makes it difficult for early walkers to make it up to the taller platform. The babies have to stay on the shorter platform, which makes it easier for mom to keep them safe! Plus, less of a chance for them to fall off the structure… Not that my kid has almost done that or anything! 🤦

The playground area is not fenced in, but is up some stairs from the parking lot. Keep an eye on the ramp though, as kids have been known to take off there! Up above the ramp you will find the restrooms.

Tennis Courts

Right behind the playground is the tennis courts. There’s almost always someone playing while we’re here, which makes for great entertainment for the kids! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve thought I lost my kids, just to find them with their nose pressed against the fence watching someone play tennis!

Basketball Court

Cedar Hills also has a concrete basketball court set back within the trees. You might not even know it’s there since the area is so wooded!

Picnic Shelter

The picnic shelter here holds a special place in my heart since it’s where we had our first baby shower! This would be a great place for a family gathering since it’s set back from the parking lot and you will have some privacy. However, it’s not near the playground and restrooms, which may be a deal breaker for some. (Baileywick is the park that keeps everything in close proximity, but it also gets booked fast!)

Baseball Fields

Now you really wouldn’t know that Cedar Hills had a baseball field unless you were playing disc golf, since the course takes you right back past the field. I had been to this park many times before I realized it was hidden back there! I did have a friend whose GPS took her to this side of the park when she was trying to meet me, so I guess there may be a separate entrance for the baseball field.
