***POOL DEMOLISHED in 2019***

So summer is in full swing and it’s going to be 100 degrees tomorrow. No exaggeration – that’s the actual forecast. So some pool time is a must. Chavis pool is adjacent to John Chavis Park which is a nice playground and has a carousel.
Wading pool and splash pad
Similar to Millbrook pool, Chavis pool has a wading pool that is shallow enough for little ones just getting used to the water. Like Buffaloe Road Aquatic Center, the splash pad is integrated into the pool area. This may or may not be good for you depending on your little one. Chavis and Buffaloe Road both have zero entry (or beach entry) into the wading area which is a wonderful feature for little ones who can’t really manage stepping into a pool just yet.
The Chavis pool also has a big/deeper outdoor pool and you can go between the two with ease. The toddler area is gated off, but it is not limited to just toddlers – you may have some big kids that wander in and out. That wasn’t an issue for us, but just something to be aware of.
Here’s a potential con:
The bathroom/locker area is pretty gross and it stinks. Smells musty and is untidy and really could use a complete overhaul. It’s not something that would keep us from going, but it is something to be noted. You certainly don’t want to be hanging out there a long time.
Positives:
- Beach entry wading area that little tots can manage
- access to a deeper pool (we brought puddle jumpers and enjoyed both areas). Millbrook pool has a larger pool but it is often reserved for lap time and/or classes. So it was nice to swap between the 2 sections.
- Shaded picnic tables to grab a snack – bring your own or vending machines. Cash only.
- $8 for me and my 2 kids for an afternoon of water play is a pretty inexpensive. If you go often, you can get a punch pass for an even better deal
Good evening My Name is Minister Markeita Wilson and I was wanting to bring our Youth Ministry to the pool for a day out in the water and I was wondering if I needed to reserve a day or anything like that can you please get back to me ASAP
Hi Markeita! Unfortunately Chavis pool is undergoing renovations and is not open right now. We recommend holding pool in Wake Forest and you can get the details on how to reserve your spot at https://www.raleightotspots.com/holding-park-aquatic-center-and-playground/
