All of this time at home has really required me to get creative with our kid activities! We’ve taken lots of walks, painted pottery, seen a million animals, tried subscription boxes and geocaching, plus anything else that sounds remotely fun! When I heard about the Color Me Tees at First Class Boutique I knew it was something we just had to try. Especially if your kid loves to color, this helps you step it up a notch by having them color their own shirts!
Choose your Design
First Class Boutique has lots of shirt design options to choose from. There’s everything from kindergarten graduation shirts, 4th of July designs, baby animals, or custom Father’s Day shirts for dad! You can also get pretty much any kind of shirt you want custom ordered, and the shop is located right in Wake Forest.
Like all little girls these days, my two girls are obsessed with unicorns and rainbows so I was excited to see they had those as options! My little boy is in a Paw Patrol stage and loves puppies, so I got him a shirt with a puppy on it.
Color your shirt
You can choose to use fabric markers to have their art work last forever, or use washable markers so they can color it again and again. We went with the washable markers so we could extend the fun. I just wash the shirt and then they can color it again and change their style from day to day! I mean, I have a LOT of quarantine days to fill until school starts! 😂
I was happy to see that the shirts were true to size and good quality. The designs are placed on the shirt with a heat press using black vinyl. I recommend placing a piece of cardboard inside the shirt while your child is coloring so the markers don’t bleed through to the other side.
Enjoy the Finished Product
I was pretty hands off during this craft, so I was excited to see how well they did without my intervention! In hindsight I probably should have told them not to color outside of the design. But it kept them busy while I did other things so I consider it a win! I did notice that my 4 year old had trouble with the shirt bunching up under her marker, so I think it would have helped if I held the shirt taut for her.
After the kids finished coloring their shirts they enjoyed wearing them while we ran errands. It was a rainy day, and since we used washable markers I was worried the colors would run once they got wet. Luckily they held up fine in the rain, although we weren’t soaking wet or anything. Just something to keep in mind if you go the washable route! The shirts also include washing instruction, which include no bleach or fabric softener.
Overall this was a great rainy day activity and I’m excited to have it in my bag of tricks! These shirts would make for great party favors or gifts, so grab yours today from their Etsy Shop!
