2000 Fearrington Village Center, Pittsboro, NC 27312

Fearrington Village always sounded very enchanting to me. I didn’t really know exactly what it was, but it sounded so quaint and scenic. Fearrington Village is an English-inspired village nestled in the countryside of Pittsboro. They boast about their southern hospitality and welcoming environment. It’s a cute spot to dine and shop, but I wouldn’t say it’s the best place for kids. There are a few kid-friendly activities if you find yourself there with the kids in tow, but I’d recommend it as a mom’s day out or fancy brunch spot without the kids instead!

Driving in to Fearrington Village

Farm Animals

Right at the entrance you’ll find some goats and cows that the kids can watch. There are signs saying no touching or feeding the animals though, so this is not the interactive animal encounters you will find at other places like Breezy Pond Farm. Supposedly these are fainting goats that will topple over when startled. I didn’t see any fall over while we were there though!

Since there wasn’t any feeding of the animals allowed, it took us about 5 minutes to view the animals and be ready to move on. I definitely wouldn’t make a special trip just for the animals, but it was a nice touch while we were there.

Bookstore

Another kid-friendly spot at Fearrington Village was the expansive local bookstore. There was a whole room setup for kids books and toys, and of course my kids wanted to explore everything! It was fun to view all of the new book titles and get new ideas of kid-friendly book series. I believe during normal times McIntyre Books also hosted fun events, but of course none of that is happening now due to the pandemic. It looks like some events are slowly starting to return, so you can check the full calendar on their website.

Walk the Grounds

The best part of Fearrington Village was the beautifully manicured grounds. We enjoyed strolling through the well-maintained gardens and walkways. There are a number of outdoor dining options available, but we didn’t stop and eat. I can envision a wonderful kid-free brunch here though! There’s also a large barn that can be rented out for events. I wish I would have known about it when I got married because it would be a magnificent wedding venue!

What about you – Have you been to Fearrington Village? Did you take the kids with you? Any kid-friendly spots we missed? It’s a beautiful space to visit, but I’d suggest going kid-free!
