Happy Feet Planet is a new indoor adventure-filled play space in Apex! This playground is an expansive soft play area with lots of fun attractions, perfect for crawling babies up through age 10. It reminded me a lot of the indoor play area at Angel Island Fun Park, but with an outer space theme like Over the Moon Play Space in Cary.
Ball Pit & Interactive Wall
When you first enter the play area you are greeted by a giant ball pit with lots of interactive features. Most of the younger kids spent their time here scooping, throwing, and rolling the sea of balls. I have to say, it was quite the throwback to playing in the ball pit of my childhood dreams! (See, McDonald’s! You should have kept the ball pit!)
There was also a digital, interactive wall where you could play a game by throwing balls at the screen, plus lots of ramps, blowers, and buckets to play with in the ball pit! Your kid can spend hours here!
Climbing Tower
Moving on from the ball pit, the main spectacle is the giant climbing tower! This is where all the magic happens! Here you will find obstacle courses, climbing areas, slides, and all the fun you can dream of! Parents are able to explore up here with their littles, but some attractions aren’t exactly adult weight friendly. The rope bridge was a little intimidating and I completely avoided the elastic climbing area. I’ve seen enough parents drop through that thing to know that adult weight is not ideal on that thing! But overall I was able to follow my 5 year old around and explore with him.
Slippery Slides
If your kid loves slides, you’re in the right place! Similar to other indoor soft play areas like Galaxy Fun Park, there are lots of fun slides for your kid to zoom down. One attraction that makes Happy Feet Planet stand above the others is the Innertube slide, which seems to be a new, popular attraction I’m seeing pop up online. We haven’t seen this type of slide at any other kids’ play area in Raleigh yet, so enjoy it here first!
Unfortunately, adults are not allowed on the slides, but when we visited this information was not posted anywhere. Shortly after we arrived, a staff member started monitoring the play area and would blow a whistle if any adults attempted the slide. I’m betting they have signs up to indicate this now!
It’s quite an unfortunate rule, and I’m not really sure of the reasoning behind it. Adults are allowed up on the play tower, just not down the slides. So you will be able to follow your child up to the top of the slide but won’t be able to follow them back down. This made it challenging to keep up with my son once he went down the slide. He oftentimes would run off to something else before I make my way back down the stairs to him. It also meant that if he wanted to ride the slide again I had to go up and down the stairs to help him transport his innertube back up to the top. As usual, mom does all the work and doesn’t get to enjoy the fun!
Snack Options
I didn’t see any signs forbidding outside snacks, but they now have this listed on their website. Some basic snack options are available for purchase, and all snacks must be eaten in the lobby in order to keep the play area clean.

When we visited shortly after their grand opening it was insanely crowded, so I recommend you get there early if you are dropping by on a weekday. However, perhaps the crowds have thinned now that the newness has worn off.

Overall Impressions
Overall I’d say this place was very clean and had a lot of exciting attractions to keep the kids busy. I’d also say it targets a little bit of the younger crowd, so if you have a child ages 6 and under you should definitely go check it out!
