If you’re over on the east side of Raleigh, you may notice there aren’t a lot of parks in the area. Luckily, local neighborhoods and churches are creating parks for the community to enjoy to fill the hole. Enter the Hedingham Community park!
The Hedingham neighborhood is a large golf community off New Bern Ave and New Hope Rd. They have a nice, large community park that is open to the public during daylight hours.
There’s a main playground structure under the shade sail, but then they also have a merry-go-round, yellow bus, teeter-totter, bouncy animals, and swings!
My 5 year old excitedly exclaimed, “I’ve never been on a merry-go-round before!” And you know, I think she’s right! I haven’t see one at any other park! They seem to be extinct, so if you’re on the hunt for one, here ya go!
There’s also plenty of swings for everyone! I counted 4 regular swings and 4 bucket swings, although they are located in direct sun.
Overall, Hedingham Community Park is a great place to stop and let the kids play if you’re in the area. It’s nice and new and in a good, safe part of town. I love that there’s enough benches for parents, and the shade sail is a big plus! Only downfall is that it’s a mulch surface, which isn’t very baby friendly.
Another option in this area is to visit the Buffaloe Road Park at the Aquatic Center, Marsh Creek Park, or Hill Street Park. Check out our map for more tot spots near you!
