I have a confession. I have a mom bod. You know what I mean. A weak core, a flabby belly where a defined waistline used to exist.

This post is not about body image. I really don’t think l have a poor body image. Although I weigh the same now as I did after my first pregnancy, I am almost a full size smaller. I have more muscle, I am more fit. I can pick up and carry 2 toddlers if I have to.

I am more healthy, even if the scale does not reflect it.

Which is frustrating, but not something that heavily weighs on my mind

No pun intended 😉

I do have something that bothers me. I have nothing to wear. Like actually nothing. Not a “I am just tired of everything I own” but that I really don’t own hardly anything.  I packed all the summer clothes I had for a trip to Magic Kingdom in Orlando and came back with nothing clean. Some items worn a couple of times. We were gone less than a week.

So I decided to try a couple of things I wouldn’t normally try.

Lularoe.

I do not like having to shop pop ups or scheduled Facebook sales to buy things. But I do like buy/sell/trade sites. So I gave in and decided to see what all the buzz was about. I seriously wonder if Lularoe is so popular because people like the vanity sizing. I bought an Irma top in an XS. I have never been an extra small.

Maybe that gives people some confidence. It just feels like fraud to me 🙂

I have a pair of leggings too. I wore them once, in the spring. They are HOT. Like it was 68 degrees and I am sweating. I am not hot natured. Maybe they are good for January.

The whole tunic/leggings style is very comfortable but I just feel frumpy in it. Like I am wearing pajamas. Perhaps it’s not for my body type.

Having said that I would like to try a dress or two from lularoe. The fabric is very nice and I think it would hold up to wash and wear. But I will probably pick it up from a facebook site. I am just not organized enough to try to race and comment faster than others on a Facebook sale. Plus the sizing is so weird that I would worry about paying for full price for something that wouldn’t fit.

Stitch Fix

I was convinced by a couple of friends to give stitch fix a try. And they were right, it is worth trying out. The idea is a stylist, for a fee of $20, will read your style profile and Pinterest boards and pick out 5 items that are shipped to your house. You are under no obligation to buy anything and shipping is free both ways. If you do buy something  your styling fee is credited back to you. Buy 5 items and get 25% off.  Average price per item is $55, which honestly is a bit more than I normally pay but no bad for quality clothes. On your styling profile you can pick “the cheaper the better” which is exactly what I did.

Another confession: I am a cheap skate. But I am also a bit lazy.

Stitch fix does the work for you, you don’t even have to pick out clothes. It may not work great for control freak personalities, but for more free spirits it is really kind of fun. My fix came with items priced from $48 to $78.  I kept 2 of the 5 items, total cost just under $100.

The purses I love. The leather is super soft and they are very well made. The shirt is nothing I would have picked out, but the color is beautiful and it actually fits me fairly well. So I will probably try this out again, but I think it is probably better for a few occasional fun pieces and not an everyday wardrobe.

Which leads me back to my original issue. I have no clothes…

Kohl’s

Kohl’s is my fallback. I had to have a couple more items before I go on a trip in August. So I take both kids (3 and 1 years old) and go try on clothes. Yeah, not fun and it took lots of bribery. BUT, I did end up with a shirt and mid-calf length dress that I love. Both were under $20 with my coupon. Maybe the dressing room drama was worth it. Total: I got dry erase decals, a dress and a shirt for me, 2 shirts and shorts for my little boy and an outfit for my daughter. $70 for everything. For decent quality clothes (better than Target but not as good as Stitch Fix).

Would love to hear where you love to shop!!
