Missing the beach? If you want to make the drive to Zebulon you can still dig your toes in the sand at Little River Park and enjoy the relaxing sounds of the river flowing over the dam.
Little River Park is one of the oldest parks in Zebulon. Known for its natural flowing river, nature lovers can enjoy fishing and playing on the sandy beach. There are also lots of large flat rocks further up the river that are perfect for a picnic!
This is definitely a natural beach on a river, so don’t expect a pristine white beach. There are sticks and stones mixed in and you may find a few creepy crawlies as well. Don’t say I didn’t warn you! But it’s still a fun time to splash around in the water and play in the sand! We even saw a few ducks floating along!
Walk up the River for a picnic
Once you tire of the beach, move on up the river a bit further to picnic on the large flat rocks. If you park in the side parking lot you will find a trail to lead you up the river.
Run around in the grassy field
From the main parking lot you can also enjoy a grassy area up on a small hill. All it has is some trees, but it’s a great place to let the kids run around safely.
Explore the old dam
There are also some remnants of an old dam that could be fun to explore, but a word of caution that this probably isn’t the best place to let your kids play. The rocks get steep and slippery, so let’s leave this to the grown-ups.
If you’re looking for more of a playground, Wendell Park isn’t too far away and you can also play some disc golf while you’re there!
I have a map of the entire Fall Line with Zebulon/The Little on it plus a powerful article if you want them. I am an expert of the Fall Line. I am well aware of Mike’s Fall Line Bar. I will mail him a map
