Lumpy’s Ice Cream is a local Wake Forest favorite. Known for the Lumpy’s mustache, they use locally-sourced hormone-free milk and fresh fruits to create their yummy goodness. They’re now available in some local grocery stores, but there’s nothing like walking up to an ice cream shop for a cool treat on a hot day! **They are also currently still open during the pandemic!!**
Lumpy’s Ice Cream has tons of flavors, but I’m pretty basic and usually get Charlie’s Cheesecake or Kenny’s Kickin’ Chocolate. My family was a fan of Angel’s Apple Pie and Sally’s Silly Strawberry. I’d love to try Denise’s Chocolate Brownie Addiction, but it wasn’t available the day we went. Bennie’s Bacon and Bourbon also seems like a unique flavor I might have to give a whirl!
After you grab your cup or cone, there’s inside dining available or a few outside chairs and picnic tables. Our favorite is to eat outside and play a round of corn-hole if the board is available. It’s a great way to spend a lazy afternoon!
Also nearby is Strike & Barrel (formerly Brooks Street Bowl), or walk down to H.L Miller Park near the Wake Forest Farmer’s Market!
