Governor Cooper just announced on Wednesday that NC will be entering Phase 2 of the COVID-19 response on Friday, May 22nd, at 5pm. As a parent, you may be wondering what this means for you and your kids? Read on for our explanation of the new restrictions.
Mass gatherings:
Restricted to 10 people indoors, 25 people outdoors
(so small playdates are allowed!)
Open with 50% capacity:
Restaurants, pools, and personal care businesses like salons and barbers.
Employees of personal care businesses will be required to wear face coverings.
(so you can take the kids to the pool and finally get those haircuts!)
Childcare and Day Camps:
Childcare facilities, day camps and overnight camps will be open with enhanced cleaning and screening requirements.
(So you can sign the kids up for camp and drop them off at childcare for a break!)
Still Closed:
Bars and night clubs; public playgrounds; gyms and indoor fitness facilities; indoor entertainment venues such as movie theaters, bowling alleys, martial arts facilities, dance studios, trampoline and rock-climbing facilities, roller skating rinks, ice skating rinks, and basketball courts.
(so no gym childcare, public playgrounds, or indoor play places 😢 )
The Safer At Home Phase 2 for NC runs through at least Friday, June 26.
**Extended until at least August 7th**
***Extended until September 11, 2020*** (Mandatory face masks rules apply)
