Governor Cooper announced Tuesday that North Carolina schools will be reopening in Plan B (in-person social distancing). School Districts can also reopen under Plan C (fully remote learning) if that works best for them.
😷 Face coverings are required for all staff and students from kindergarten through high school. The state will be providing at least 5 masks for every student, staff, and teacher.
Schools will be required to limit the number of students in the building so social distancing is possible. Districts can use whatever plan works best for them, including alternating days or weeks.
🤒 Temperature checks of everyone entering the building will be required. Class schedules must allow time for frequent hand washing and schools must clean regularly.
Teachers must limit sharing supplies between students. Outside activities and visitors will be limited inside the building.
Schools are encouraged to implement other safety measures like eating in the classroom and keeping student cohorts together throughout the day.
Governor Cooper also announced that the state of North Carolina will be staying in Phase 2 for the time being. Read our Phase 2 Parent’s Guide here.
