Pelican’s SnoBalls is a huge family favorite of ours! Where else can you get a cool treat that combines smooth fluffy snow with over 100 bold flavors?! We usually frequent the Knightdale location since they have such a fun, family-friendly environment in an old home turned SnoBall shack, but we just recently visited the original Pelican’s in Garner and were even more excited to find a full driving range, mini golf course, and playground right next to it!
Original New Orleans Shaved Ice
Now let’s just get this clear. Pelican’s SnoBalls are NOT the same thing as the crunchy mess of a snow cone that you get at the fair. This is New Orleans shaved ice – soft and fluffy melt-in-your-mouth goodness in every bite. The original owner, a 13 year old girl from Garner, got the idea from her summer visits to her grandparents house in Louisiana. She perfected it over the years and now we have multiple locations across the triangle to enjoy on a hot summer day!
The best part of Pelican’s SnoBalls is the plethora of flavors to choose from. There’s over 100 flavors to choose from, from fruity favorites like pina colada to unique creations like dill pickle. You can add cream to every flavor, as well as a large gummy topping or whipped cream and sprinkles. My kids love the Unicorn flavor with sprinkles and I have really started loving the creamsicle!
The SnoBall shack also has a fun atmosphere with giant yard games and corn hole available. It’s a great place to hang out on a hot summer evening!
Playground
One of the best features at the Garner location is the playground located right next to the Pelican’s SnoBall shack. You can grab a sweet treat and hang out for a while and play! They have a cool rocket ship, giant chair, and a couple of small playgrounds all fenced in for safety. It’s all located in direct sun, though, so bring some sunscreen!
Mini Golf and Driving Range
You can also make a whole day out of your visit to Pelican’s Garner and also try your hand at golfing! There’s a small mini golf course available for an extra fee, and the adults can enjoy the driving range as well. The mini golf course is NOTHING like the nearby Par Tee Shack, but it’s a fun outdoor activity to do in the summer. We didn’t actually try this during our visit, but it could be a fun activity for the older kids!
