**Individual rec centers are cancelling tot time even though they are still listed on the reclink schedule. We recommend calling each center before visiting**
Raleigh Parks and Rec has multiple community centers across Wake County that host a tot time open gym weekly throughout the year. They are FINALLY reopening this month, and we could not be more thrilled to have a free indoor place to play when the weather is bad!
What is Tot Time?
Tot Time is basically free play in the gym where your kids can run around like wild animals if they wish. Staff will bring out some sports equipment to play with, but this varies at each location. We’ve been to some gyms where they bring out one push car and two balls and all of the kids have to fight over them (*cough* Abbott’s Creek). But we’ve been to other locations where they just give you free reign of the equipment closet, as long as you clean up when you leave (Green Road).
Is there any cost?
Tot Time is a completely free activity and you do not need to register in advance. They will have you fill out a registration form and waiver at the door the first time you attend. There is a limit on the number of people they will accept at a time and it is first-come first-served. Once the staff decide the gym has reached capacity, which varies at each location, they will turn away people at the door. This can be frustrating if you are planning on meeting someone there, so I recommend you arrive together if at all possible.
When can we attend?
See below for tot time days and locations. These are current through the end of April 2021, but after that you may want to check Reclink for up-to-date times.
