Roberts park is located in the southern part of downtown Raleigh. This is the big kids play structure. It has some tree shade, but not a lot. There is a nearby covered picnic area.
My 3.5 year old really liked this play structure. The concerning thing about this one and adventurous toddlers is that it is really pretty high. Once you climb up to the tube slide there are open areas that would be easy to fall off of.
That of course is no fault of the park. The play structure is clearly marked for 5-12 year olds. But, as I have said in previous posts my kids always want to check out big kid play areas. For this one, they may need more assistance.
Not to worry, Roberts park has toddler structures that are a lot of fun too.
First picture is mine, smaller one is from Raleigh Parks and Rec.
My kids had so much fun on the toddler area duck and car that they almost overlooked the sandbox. Almost.
The park is connected to a community center, so bathrooms are available during community center hours. I should mention that the community center is a little bit of a walk from the playground. So is the parking lot. So for the littlest tots you may want to bring a stroller.
The playground itself is fairly close to a road, that is not super busy but still well traveled. I would not take long for a wandering toddler to find it. Totally enclosed playgrounds have me spoiled!! (See Abbotts Creek Park, Eastgate Park)
