With the prolonged shut-down, we didn’t think movie theaters would bring back their free and discounted summer movie series for kids, but we’re excited to say there are some deals available this summer 2021! See our list below! The theaters usually show older movies, but it’s still fun to make a trip to the theater. And since it’s so cheap, it’s ok if your kid barely watches the movie or you have to leave early!
Marquee Cinemas Wakefield

Marquee Cinemas in Wake Forest always has the best summer movie lineup! You can visit on Tuesday and Wednesday at 9:30am for FREE, and you can see the movie schedule in the image below! There are two movies to choose from, so there’s sure to be something you enjoy each week It’s very family-friendly due to the time and showing, so it’s totally ok if your kids make a little noise. We’re all in this together!

Regal Cinemas Summer Movie Express isn’t free, but at only $1 per person it’s still an amazing deal! We have a lot of Regal locations across the triangle, so there’s bound to be a location near you. We have attended summer movies at North Hills in the past and it’s always a great time with a theater filled with kids munching on popcorn!
Regal’s Summer movies extend much longer than Marquee’s and run from May through September. There are two movies to choose from each Tuesday and Wednesday, and you can see the schedule below.
As far as we know, those are the only summer movie deals happening in the Raleigh area. AMC doesn’t do any summer promotions, and sometimes Alamo Drafthouse does a kids camp, but we don’t see anything on their schedule right now. All of the small local theaters closed permanently during the pandemic, like Mission Valley Theater, Six Forks Cinema, and Raleighwood. I’m sure all theaters are hurting right now, so go support them by watching a movie and maybe even grab some popcorn at the concession stand!
