**Permanently closed as of October 2021 but the space was transformed into Big Air Raleigh**
The Launching Pad Raleigh seems to be one of the lesser-known indoor trampoline amusement centers in Raleigh. However, after our recent visit I don’t understand why it isn’t a more popular spot! The Launching Pad has all of the attractions you want, plus a few more! I’d compare it to Urban Air, Sky Zone, Defy Raleigh, and Galaxy Fun Park, but the cosmic battle arena, XD theater, and laser frenzy are new attractions you can only find at The Launching Pad!
Trampolines
There are lots of different trampolines available at the Launching Pad for loads of high-flying fun! There’s a big open jump area, two dodgeball courts, an area for basketball, and of course, the foam pit! This foam pit also has a large net you can climb or try to jump onto, which adds an extra challenge.
Jousting Battle & Ladder Climb
The Jousting battle area is something we had previously only seen at Urban Air. It’s a fun way to battle your friends with giant q-tips and try not to fall into the foam below. My husband and I got in on the fun, but I won’t tell you who won! 😂
The rope ladder is something I’ve only ever seen as a carnival game at the NC State Fair. I honestly don’t know how anyone can climb on that thing without it spinning, but I guess you can practice here so you can win the giant stuffed animals at the fair this fall!
Climbing Wall
The climbing wall here is also similar to Urban Air, except smaller. You have to wait for a staff member to harness you in before climbing, so I’m sure if they are busy there can be a wait. We visited on a Friday morning and pretty much had the whole place to ourselves, so weekday mornings definitely aren’t their busy times!
Ninja Obstacle Course
Ninja obstacle courses are super trendy right now, and the Launching Pad definitely delivers! I mean, it’s not as extravagant as the Warrior Tech rig, but your little ninja will be able to practice his moves on quite a few unique obstacles.
Launch Tower
If you’re ever wanted to freefall onto a giant inflatable, the Launching Pad has got you covered! I tried one of these at Defy Raleigh, Galaxy Fun Park, and Bounce U and these are scarier than you think! It’s hard to trust that the inflatable will catch you, but my 6 year old didn’t seem to mind! She’s pretty fearless, but my 5 and 3 year old are a little more timid when it comes to heights. You can help your child conquer their fear of heights by jumping off the launch tower over and over!
Area 52: Cosmic Battle Arena
We didn’t actually get to see Area 52 in action, but from the video on the website it appears to be like a nerf gun battle arena, except you are shooting ping pong balls instead of foam darts. I don’t believe this attraction is included in regular admission, and can only be used with a booked birthday party. I could be wrong though, so check with the front desk!
XD Theater & Laser Frenzy
We didn’t try the XD theater or laser frenzy because I thought it was an additional fee, but according to the website these attractions are included in the entrance price. The XD theater appears to be a 4D theater with moving seats and special effects. Laser Frenzy is a laser obstacle room so you can dodge the laser beams and make your way through the room like Mission Impossible. The next time we go back I’ll check these out and update my review here!
Snack Café
If you have hungry kids, make a pit stop at the Launching Pad café! You can purchase a variety of pre-packaged snacks to satisfy every craving. They also had popcorn and fountain drinks, but it didn’t seem like there were any hot food items to purchase. This mom enjoyed sitting in the lounge though, so it’s a great spot to setup shop for the day while the kids play!
