540 Hinton Pond Rd, Knightdale, NC
Do you need a spot to get the wiggles out when the weather is bad? Similar to open gym at The Tumble Gym, Knightdale Gymnastics hosts a tot time every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 10am-12pm. Kids 5 and under can safely climb, swing, and bounce on the gymnastics equipment to their hearts content, and hopefully you get a great nap afterward!
Gymnastics Equipment
Similar to every other gymnastics facility in Raleigh, there is a variety of equipment to explore. My kids enjoy trying to walk the balance beam, as long as I was holding their hand for reassurance. They progressed quickly from walking the beams sitting on the ground to those a few feet in the air.
Foam Pit
However, my kids favorite spot at Knightdale Gymnastics was the swinging rope over the foam blocks. I’m not at all surprised since I could barely keep them out of the foam pit at Sky Zone! They spent their whole time here just taking turns swinging on the rope and plopping into the foam. They worked up a sweat so I’d call it a success!
Trampolines
Another favorite apparatus was definitely the trampolines! We don’t have a trampoline at home so anytime we are at a place they can jump the kids just love it! There were actually two trampolines here: one long one for tumbling and one more traditionally sized one, but up on a platform.
The trampoline that was up on a platform had stairs on the side that made it easy for the kids to get up and jump. However, it made me nervous since there was a big drop off in the front. I always stayed very close by when they were on this trampoline, and even tried to encourage them to go play somewhere else. I think this area would be a spot to avoid for those with toddlers less than 2 years old. Luckily it’s tucked back in the corner so you can avoid it if needed.
I’ll also give you a heads up that the Knightdale Gymnastics facility is a bit more outdated and less organized than other places like GymCarolina or The Tumble Gym. It’s definitely not a brand new building, and you can tell they use it daily for gymnastics classes. They don’t have separate offices and rooms for storage, so you will see personal items and class equipment located by the entrance. It may be hard to keep young exploring toddlers away from the shelves located directly at their eye level.
Pricing Information
The Tot Time Open Gym at Knightdale Gymnastics is a fairly affordable activity for children under 5. You can get all of the details here, but currently it costs $5 for one hour for the first child and $3 for siblings. If you want to stay the full 2 hours it would be $8 for the first child and $5 for siblings.
We stayed an hour and that was plenty of time for us. However, we were there by ourselves, so you might want to stay a little longer if you visit with friends.
Knightdale Gymnastics also offers a brain break open gym on Monday and Thursday afternoon for children of all ages. Children 5 and over can actually be dropped off, but children under 5 must have their parent or guardian accompany them. It runs from 2:30-4:30pm and costs $5 an hour.
