Williams park is right next door to Lynn Elementary School, off the corner of Lead Mine and Lynn Roads. I had never actually been to this park until today, but I drive by it all the time. Williams park also includes a picnic shelter with bathrooms adjacent to the playground. Per the City of Raleigh website this shelter can be rented out for $9/hour. Seems pretty inexpensive to me!

The park also offers volleyball and tennis courts as well as a large soccer field with a short track around it. The playground has 2 tot swings and 2 big kid swings on wood chip and sand surfaces.

lots of shade!

I love when playground equipment has canopies in addition to the shade from the trees.

This playground has a couple of unique climbing structures, and it also includes a small sand area with 2 diggers. These diggers seemed to be smaller and easier for my 3 year old daughter to use. Or maybe she is just getting bigger…

Pro’s:

  • Canopy covered play structures
  • Picnic tables and bathrooms nearby (bathroom has a changing table)
  • Lots of nice parent benches in the shade
  • Short walking trail, soccer field, tennis/volleyball courts nearby

Con’s:

  • This playground is fairly close to Lynn road, which is a busy road. My children are pretty good at staying close, so this was not a huge concern. BUT if you have a child that tends to run away, it is something to consider. Try Eastgate Park for a nearby, fenced in playground
  • Not much for toddlers to do. Play structures are geared for preschool and elementary school age children.
